FAST FORWARD

This is a massive weekend for boxing.

Let’s be clear it is a massive weekend FOR boxing.

The venue of New Jersey plays host to one of the biggest unification fights of recent years and for female boxing, it simply does not get bigger than middleweight Clarissa Shields against Christina Hammer for the IBF, WBA, WBC AND THE WBO belts. Shields is favourite, Hammer the veteran; the winner should be the fan as this will be a fantastic fight – I won’t say who I think likely to win because most are going for Shields…

On the same evening, also in the USA, in Monterrey, we have the super middleweight Jaime Munguia against Dennis Hogan for the WBO title. I think likely that Munguia shall get through this and keep on track for a future unification fight with a certain Mr Smith.

Domestically we have 3 bills – in Stoke-on-Trent, 7 fights, Worksop, 5 fights and in Yeovil, 4 fights.

At the end of the week, on Friday the 19th April, in Liverpool, there are three very interesting contests. We have the heavyweight battel between Alex Dickenson and Dorius Darch, a middleweight return for Brian Rose taking on Nikola Matic and the lightweight Natasha Jonas gets another battle in, in her return to form against BIanka Majlath. Dickenson, Rose, Jonas for me…
