Guillem Balague has dealt Celtic a blow in getting Rafa Benitez as their manager.
The Spaniard has been linked with the job on a permanent basis this summer, with some believing that he’ll walk out on Newcastle to take a role with more freedom to what he wants.

Neil Lennon is the current caretaker manager at Celtic and is favourite to take over permanently.
Benitez may still interest the Celtic board, but Spanish football expert Balague has shared some information that might stop that becoming concrete.
Per footballscotland.co.uk, Balague said: “The priority is to stay at Newcastle.
“The offers that he got, which is like €10million net a year, have come from Saudi Arabia and China where I don’t think he should go next.
“The battle is to stay at Newcastle if he gets enough support. If he doesn’t stay at Newcastle then I think the Premier League will be the competition he would like to stay in. That will be his target.”
That pretty much writes off any potential for a switch to Celtic, with Benitez either preferring to stay in the Premier League or go somewhere where he’s paid more money.
He’s been in charge of Newcastle since 2016 and led them to promotion to the Premier League before consolidating their top-flight place over the last two seasons.
