Niall McGinn scored a goal of the month contender in Aberdeen’s win over Motherwell last night.
The Northern Irishman looked right in the mood for it as the Dons attempted to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday.
Derek McInnes’ men lost that game 2-1 to lose more ground in their pursuit for European football next season.
But they had no such trouble with Motherwell the visitors to Pittodrie last night.
The Dons got on their way with a Max Lowe cross finding the net after four minutes, but The Steelmen equalised through Jake Hastie before half-time.
Stephen Robinson’s men would have fancied their chances of getting the win which would keep their top six hopes alive as they went into the break at half-time.
But Motherwell took control in the second half, scoring through McGinn twice to win 3-1 – and the former Celtic winger’s second goal is surely a contender for goal of the month:
With Kilmarnock drawing 0-0 with Hibs last night, Aberdeen are now level on points with Steve Clarke’s men and poised to steal back third over the coming weeks if they can put together a good run of form.
