The Scotland international has been earmarked as a potential star for some time now and, now 22-years-old, seems to have come of age as a regular starter in the Jambos’ back-line.
And that has led to reports in the Daily Express claiming Souttar will be a key target for Steven Gerrard at the end of the current campaign, with the futures of Joe Worrall and Nikola Katic far from certain.
Souttar’s ball-playing style, combined with his no-nonsense approach developed during his formative years at Tynecastle seem to have persuaded some Light Blues supporters that he could be the answer to the defensive woes which have undermined their attempts to win the Scottish Premiership in recent seasons:
