Billy Gilmour scored a crucial penalty in Chelsea‘s UEFA Youth League semi-final shootout win over Barcelona yesterday.
The Scottish midfielder has impressed hugely since making the move from Rangers to the Stamford Bridge club at the beginning of last season.
He won four trophies in his first season at the club and could be in line to add to those with youth football’s most prestigious competition this term.
That’s after his Chelsea Under 19 side beat Barcelona on penalties to make the final.
The game finished 2-2 and Chelsea actually missed first in the shootout, but they pulled it back with the help of Gilmour’s penalty before going on to win:
Gilmour will be hoping he can get an opportunity in the Chelsea first team at some point in the future.
He has a lot of midfield competition, but should be impressing manager Maurizio Sarri with his performances.
If not, it’s likely Gilmour will go out on loan next season in an effort to get the first team experience he needs.
