Video: VAR Overrules Offside Call to Hand Barcelona Early Old Trafford Lead

Barcelona were handed a crucial early lead at Old Trafford this evening courtesy of VAR over-ruling an incorrect offside goal.

The La Liga giants set about scoring a crucial away goal against Manchester United in tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg straight away and it took them just 14 minutes to have the ball in the back of the net.

Leo Messi’s clever clipped cross found ex-Liverpool favourite Luis Suarez at the back-post, who proceeded to prod the ball beyond David de Gea, but the Italian officials initially ruled out the goal for offside.

However, after looking back at the cross, it was revealed Suarez was definitely onside, and the final touch actually came off Luke Shaw:

Barca came knowing they needed at least an away goal, and to secure it so early into the two-legged tie will have been an absolute killer for United’s morale.

Do you agree with VAR overall, and how superior to United do you consider this Barcelona side to be?
