Vinnie Jones Says Alfredo Morelos Should’ve ‘Smashed’ Scott Brown Yesterday

Movie hardman and ex-footballer Vinnie Jones has insisted he would have ‘smashed’ Scott Brown during yesterday’s ill-tempered Old Firm match, had he been in Alfredo Morelos‘s shoes.

Rangers striker Morelos was shown a straight red card after 31 minutes of yesterday’s 2-1 victory for the Hoops after he was spotted angrily lashing out at Brown.

Celtic skipper Brown didn’t raise his own hands in Morelos’s direction and appeared to get under the Colombian’s skin simply by clipping his heels, but Jones says that would’ve been enough for him to see red.

The ex-Wimbledon, Leeds United and Chelsea midfielder, who now stars in multi-million pound Hollywood movies, was a guest on talkSPORT this morning, and didn’t hold back when asked for his thoughts on the goings on in Glasgow yesterday afternoon:

Speaking via the talkSPORT website, Jones said: “Brown has tripped him from behind, he’s wound him up and the Rangers lad has lashed out at him.

“He’s either got to wise up, man up and deal with it in a tackle or something else like that, or he’s going to be down the road.

“I would have waited, said ‘alright son’, set one up and then smashed him later on.

“You couldn’t really get away with it when we were playing, but it’s even harder now with all the cameras and everything.

“Wisey [Dennis Wise] was the best at it. He did it in the dressing room and in training.

“He just had this devilment in him. He loved doing it.

“He’d do it on the pitch, too. He’d be talking away to the opposition and winding them up, and he’d look over just to make sure I was near enough to help him out!”

Morelos now looks likely to serve a four-game ban for his red card on Sunday, given it was his fifth dismissal of the season, whilst Brown was shown a yellow card by referee Bobby Madden throughout the course of the match.

But what do you think of Jones’s comments? Do Rangers lack a bit of devilment in their play?
