Colombia Leave Alfredo Morelos Out of 40-Man Squad for the Copa America

Alfredo Morelos has been left out of the Colombia’s 40-man preliminary squad for this summer’s Copa America in Brazil.

The Rangers striker earned his senior debut for the South American side earlier this season, and had been expected to at least make it into the initial party.

However, Colombia’s new manager Carlos Queiroz obviously has other ideas, and it seems the 29 goals Morelos has banged in for the Gers since August isn’t enough to make the grade.

In fact, Colombia even named a whopping 10 strikers in their party, but there was no room for Morelos, who’ll now need to wait until the summer of 2020 for his first taste of a major international tournament, when the Copa America will be jointly-held in his homeland.

What do you think of the 22-year-old’s exclusion? Should Queiroz have more respect for Morelos’s achievements in Scottish football?

And will today’s news heighten Morelos’s need to depart Scotland sooner rather than later?
