Could Dapo Mebude and Josh McPake Be Set For Rangers Debuts Against Hibs on Sunday?

Dapo Mebude and Josh McPake could be set for their Rangers debuts against Hibs on Sunday going by their Under 18 team today.

The club’s Under 18 side faced off against Hearts this afternoon knowing that a victory would clinch the league title.

And you would have expected them to go with as strong a team as possible for the game.

But they were without two of their best for it – and two who shone in their Youth Cup win over Celtic at Hampden a week and a half ago:

Rangers have nothing to play for but pride in the remaining three Premiership games of the season, with second place in the Premiership already confirmed.

Steven Gerrard has already spoken about how impressed he’s been with the club’s young players.

So it would make sense that he tries to blood some young talent between now and the end of the season.

But will it be Mebude and McPake?

If they don’t end up getting a game against Hibs at Ibrox then their absence today may be better explained by their involvement in the Glasgow Cup Final against Celtic on Tuesday.

Rangers’ Under 18 side beat Hearts 3-1 to clinch the title and an impressive Double for the season.
