Steven Gerrard Says He’s Only Ever Received One Bid For Alfredo Morelos and It Was Worth Just €3M

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed he has only ever received one bid for Alfredo Morelos during his time at the club – and it was worth a paltry €3 million.

The Colombian striker banged in his 30th goal of the season in yesterday’s final Premiership fixture of the season at Kilmarnock, and he’s been linked with a transfer away from Ibrox during the forthcoming transfer window.

In the past, the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bordeaux have been mentioned as potential suitors for the 22-year-old but Gerrard insists he’s only ever known of one offer for his star man, and it fell way below his and the club’s expectations.

Speaking after the Gers’ 2-1 defeat at Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon, Gerrard was asked about Morelos’s future, and he replied via the Sun: “It is a great finish from Alfredo, a poacher’s goal and his all round level this season deserves 30 goals.

“I’m pleased for him. I’m hoping he’s learned a lot from the last five weeks. That is what we should be talking about with Alfredo – his goals, his play – rather than talking about the discipline side.

“It’s good for him to go away and remember another goal than the last four weeks.

“He is on a four-year contract. We have had one bid for Alfredo since I’ve been Rangers manager and it was for three million euros.

“Would you expect to see him in the summer if you were me?”

Morelos has recently spoken publicly about his desire to play in England, Spain or Italy, so is his exit from Scottish football simply an inevitability?
