The Hoops attacker was given the nod to start the final Premiership match of the season by Neil Lennon and went on to score both goals in the narrow victory.
Johnston, 20, scored his fourth and fifth senior goals for the Premiership champions, and it seems his exploits have caught the eye of another up-and-coming wide-man in Gomes.
The 18-year-old is an England youth international and made two senior league appearances for the United first-team this season, including their final Premier League match of the season at home to Cardiff City, and was also on the pitch when the Red Devils seen off PSG in the Champions League last-16.
After Sunday’s full-time whistle at Celtic Park, Gomes quoted a tweet by Sky Sports highlighting just how impressive Johnston’s display was in statistical terms, adding a simple line of his own approval:
Do you think Johnston has done enough to be included in Celtic’s team for the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday?
