Celtic‘s chief executive Peter Lawwell has said he’s ‘delighted’ to offer Neil Lennon the club’s job as manager on a permanent basis.

The news that Lennon had been chosen as the Hoops’ boss on a longer-term basis was revealed following this afternoon’s tense 2-1 victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final, which ensured a third consecutive domestic treble for the Glasgow giants.

Plenty of big names have been linked with the role over the past 12 weeks or so, including Rafa Benitez, David Moyes and even Jose Mourinho, but Lennon has managed to see off the stiff competition and Lawwell has put out a short statement explaining exactly how and why the decision was made:

He’s undoubtedly a Celtic legend, and his place in the club’s folklore was secured long before today’s game, but is Lennon the right man to lead the Premiership champions forward and towards 10-in-a-row?

What do you think?
