Rangers Target George Edmundson Given Tour of Hummel Training Centre

Oldham Athletic defender George Edmundson – who has been linked to Rangers – has reportedly been shown around the Ibrox club’s Hummel training complex.

The hulking 21-year-old centre-back has been earmarked as a potential star of the future after excelling in England’s League Two this season, making 45 appearances for the Latics.

The likes of Stoke City have been mentioned as potential suitors for Edmundson but rumours have circulated online that he has been given a tour of Rangers’ training facilities, and now the Sun are reporting his ‘VIP tour’ last week to be fact.

Steven Gerrard has shown how keen he is to build his new-look Gers side for next season around youth, with 20-year-old Motherwell winger Jake Hastie and 24-year-old Jordan Jones already signed on pre-contract deals.

And Edmundson could be the next to put pen-to-paper, with defensive reinforcements becoming more of a priority with Joe Worrall likely to be heading back to parent club Nottingham Forest, and 39-year-old Gareth McAuley out of contract.

What do you think of Rangers’ recruitment policy, and the potential signing of Edmundson?
