Reports in Italy Claim Rafa Benitez Has Agreed to Stay With Newcastle United

Rafa Benitez looks set to disappoint hopeful Celtic fans by staying put at Newcastle United for at least another season, according to reports in Italy.

The Spanish coach’s contract at St. James’s Park expired at the end of this season, and he’s been heavily linked with a potential move to Parkhead this summer, as the long-term replacement for Brendan Rodgers.

In fact, Benitez was the bookies’ favourite for the Celtic hot-seat at one point last week, but according to Calcio Mercato, the ex-Inter and Napoli boss has agreed to stay put with the Magpies in the English Premier League.

Yesterday, we told you how David Moyes’s odds had been slashed in the race to replace Rodgers, and with Benitez now apparently out of the running, who do you think will be the next permanent Celtic manager?

And do you think Benitez will remain with Newcastle for the long-term?
