Should Celtic Fans Be Excited About Latest Rafa Benitez Update?

Celtic fans may see some hope in the fact Rafa Benitez has now finished three days of negotiations with Newcastle United without any word of him remaining as their manager.

Many Hoops supporters are hopeful that the Spaniard will be their boss next season, with reports linking him to the job.

He’s actually favourite with bookies to take over the role on a permanent basis, replacing Neil Lennon, who has been caretaker since February.

Whether or not Celtic’s interest is true, Newcastle are in the driving seat for Benitez.

But their talks with him over recent days don’t seem to have led to a convincing outcome on his future.

So could that be an opportunity for Celtic to strike and show their interest in him is serious?

Per, Benitez returned to his home today without a definite resolution on his future and talks with Mike Ashley and members of the Newcastle board have continued over the phone.

Benitez has been the Toon Army manager since March 2016, helping sustain them in the Premier League after one year down in the English Championship.

If Celtic were able to make him their manager, it would be seen as a big coup going forward.
