Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has criticised his goalkeeper Allan McGregor after his ‘crazy’ red card against Hibs this afternoon, whilst admitting his team were ‘average at best’ during the 1-0 win.
The Ibrox side made it five consecutive league wins under Gerrard for the first time thanks to Jermain Defoe’s solitary goal but the victory was overshadowed somewhat when McGregor was given his marching orders in the final few moments after bizarrely kicking out at Hibees striker Marc McNulty.
McGregor will now miss next weekend’s showdown with bitter enemies Celtic and Gerrard struggled to hide his frustration as he spoke to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle:
Back-up goalie Wes Foderingham will now be called into next Sunday’s Old Firm Derby but what do you make of Gerrard’s comments?
McGregor and his lost temper not withstanding, is he right to criticise his players so harshly after beating a decent Hibs team?
