Aberdeen Deny Reports Claiming Celtic Have Bid £5M For Scott McKenna

Aberdeen have denied reports claiming Celtic have launched a £5 million bid for their centre-back Scott McKenna.

Earlier today, it was reported by the Sun that the Hoops had identified the Scotland international as one of the potential options to solve their defensive needs, following the exits of Dedryck Boyata, Filip Benkovic and Mikael Lustig.

A price of £5 million was even mentioned for McKenna, but it seems any suggestion that the 22-year-old is leaving Pittodrie any time soon is slightly wide of the mark.

The Press and Journal have said this afternoon that Aberdeen have confirmed there has been no fresh offer for their star defender, who is under contract with the Dons until 2023.

Given Celtic’s undoubted need for defensive reinforcements during the current transfer window, could McKenna be the answer to all of their problems, or is £5 million simply too much for an Aberdeen player?
