Derby County Owner Mel Morris Emphatically Denies Approaching Steven Gerrard

Derby County owner Mel Morris has emphatically denied approaching Rangers for their boss Steven Gerrard.

The Rams are likely to be in the need of a new manager in the near future, with current coach Frank Lampard currently in talks to return to former club Chelsea.

As we told you last week, Gerrard was reportedly linked with the English Championship side only for him to reaffirm his commitment to his current employers earlier this week.

But, according to Morris during an appearance on talkSPORT earlier today, Gerrard is yet to receive any sort of offer or approach from his team at all.

Speaking via the Sun, Morris bluntly said when asked about the alleged move for Gerrard: “Absolute rubbish.”

So, should we take this to mean there will be no further interest in Gerrard from Morris or Derby, or is it perhaps too early in the summer to draw conclusions like that?

What do you think?
