Sky’s Martin Tyler Infuriates Liverpool Fans with Comments on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler is taking a lot of stick this afternoon for questioning Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s ability to play for England at senior level.

The 20-year-old right-back has just enjoyed an absolutely incredible season with his club side Liverpool, as he played a crucial role in the Reds winning their sixth European Cup against Spurs in Madrid last weekend.

And Alexander-Arnold’s domestic form has seen him handed a starting berth for England in this week’s Nations League matches, including this afternoon’s third-place playoff game against Switzerland.

During the first-half, Tyler seemed unconvinced by Alexander-Arnold’s ability to be an elite defender – much to the annoyance of fans and onlookers watching on social media:

Of course, winning a Champions League at the tender age of 20, as well as playing a vital part in Liverpool’s 97-point haul in the Premier League, has cemented the defender into Anfield folklore, but does Tyler have any sort of legitimate point here?

Does Trent Alexander-Arnold need to improve defensively, or has the veteran broadcaster simply got this one wrong?
