Rangers Claim Boss Steven Gerrard ‘Has Not Been Approached’ By Derby

Steven Gerrard has not been approached by Derby County and remains committed to Rangers, according to a spokesman speaking on behalf of the Ibrox club this evening.

As we told you earlier today, reports in England have been rife that Gerrard was being targeted by the English Championship side, who are expecting their current manager Frank Lampard to be poached by Chelsea, according to the BBC,and that Gerrard had knocked-back the approach.

However, that is not the case, according to the Gers hierarchy, with a spokesman speaking to certain factions within the Glasgow media:

Of course, Gerrard and Lampard are old team-mates at international level and friends, and will surely still be in contact these days.

Do you think if Derby eventually do make an approach to Rangers, could Gerrard be tempted to make a return to English football and perhaps be closer to home?
