The 26-year-old forward has officially put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Easter Road, after an agreement was reached with his previous club Forrest Green Rovers, where he banged in 15 goals last season.
Doidge spent part of last season on-loan with Bolton Wanderers and was due to join them in a £1 million deal last January but the deal fell through when Wanderers suffered serious financial problems, according to the BBC.
Bolton’s issues have allowed Hibs to swoop in and seal a cut-price deal for Doidge, and Hibees boss Heckingbottom couldn’t be more delighted.
Speaking via the BBC, Heckingbottom said: “I’m delighted we were able to fend off other interested clubs to secure his signature. It’s a real statement of intent.
“We think he’s well suited to Scottish football.
“The recruitment staff here have been looking at Christian for a while now and he’s also someone who was on my radar.
“Christian is intelligent, has good movement, scores different types of goals, can handle himself physically and will press well from the front.”
It’s hoped Doidge can repeat his goal-scoring heroics in the Premiership next season – but what do you make of the signing?
