The two sides met in Osijek as their attempts to qualify for Euro 2020 continued and it didn’t exactly start well for the Welsh, with James Lawrence’s own-goal after just 17 minutes firing the Croats ahead in-front of their jubilant home fans.
It remained just 1-0 at half-time but it didn’t exactly get any better for Giggs’s men in the second-half, when Perisic pounced in the 48th minute after some pretty lacklustre clearances saw the ball drop at the feet of the in-form Inter Milan winger, who simply couldn’t miss from that sort of range:
Perisic turned 30 earlier this year, and famously missed out on a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2017 when Ed Woodward wouldn’t meet Inter’s price-tag.
But he’s been linked with United once again this summer, and could he be the kind of player required to help kick-start Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rebuild at Old Trafford?
