Chelsea’s Defeat in Opening Japanese Tour Game Gets Strong Online Reaction

Chelsea’s defeat in the opening game of their Japanese tour today has got a strong reaction online.

Frank Lampard’s men are in Yokohama for the first game of their two-match stay in Japan.

They face Barcelona in Saitama next week, but first up was Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.

And today’s game would give Lampard his first real opportunity to see his full squad in action.

New signing Christian Pulisic was in the squad for the game, while the new Blues boss also had a chance to see Ross Barkley, Olivier Giroud and David Luiz in action among others.

Unfortunately for Lampard, they couldn’t get a positive result – going down 1-0 to the J-League side after an 88th-minute goal from Leandro Damiao.

And that’s led to a strong reaction online, with some Chelsea fans frustrated, some urging patience and rival fans gloating:

Chelsea fans definitely shouldn’t panic though.

This was Lampard’s third full game in charge and a lot should change between now and the first competitive game of the season against Manchester United next month.
