Jamie Insall has hit back at those who branded Connah’s Quay Nomads a ‘pub team’.
The Scottish striker once turned out for Hibs and East Fife in Scottish football before being handed a long ban for testing positive for cocaine.
That actually led to his release from the Hibees – but he’s back in football with the Welsh side that knocked Kilmarnock out of the Europa League last night.Embed from Getty Images
And after appearing for 20 minutes at the end of the Nomads’ shock 2-0 victory at Rugby Park, Insall took to Twitter to hit back at those who had written off his team.
The challenge of Connah’s Quay had been played down by many going into the tie and even more so after last week’s 2-1 win for Killie in Wales.
For Insall, the Nomads shouldn’t have been underestimated:
It’s an embarrassing result for Killie considering the Nomads are part-time and they had the advantage going into last night’s game at Rugby Park.
For Angelo Alessio, he obviously has some issues he has to resolve – and he’ll have to do it quickly.
