Steven Gerrard Insists Portsmouth Have ‘No Deal’ to Sign Ross McCrorie Permanently

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard insists Portsmouth have no option to buy Ross McCrorie at the end of the midfielder’s upcoming loan spell.

The 21-year-old holding midfield player has been sent out on-loan to English League One side Portsmouth for the 2019/20 season, with Gers manager Gerrard keen for McCrorie to gain more first-team experience south of the border.

However, many Rangers supporters were left pretty puzzled last week when tabloid stories – including a report from Football Scotland – claimed Pompey held an option in the deal to sign McCrorie in a permanent transfer next summer.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League qualifier against St. Jospeh’s, Gerrard was asked about McCrorie’s situation, and was pretty emphatic:

So, there you have it – Ross McCrorie should remain a Rangers player for a ‘long time’, according to Gerrard.

But will Rangers perhaps regret letting such a talented young player leave on loan this season?
