Hearts manager Craig Levein has dispelled any talk of a move for ex-Scotland international James Morrison, following the midfielder’s release by West Brom.
The 33-year-old veteran was allowed to leave the Baggies after 12 years of service at the Hawthorns and the Sun had reported that Levein was one of the manager’s chasing his signature.
However, whilst Levein accepts he might need a replacement for the injured Peter Harring, it seems it won’t be Morrison.
Speaking via the BBC, the Jambos boss said: “I will bring in another midfielder.
“I’m going to take some time and make sure we get the right one in.”
But asked if there was truth in the Tynecastle club’s interest in Morrison, Levein bluntly replied with a sharp and concise “no”.
Morrison won 46 caps for Scotland across a nine-year international career, and won the bulk of his appearances during Levein and Gordon Strachan’s time in charge, but it seems he won’t be heading for a reunion in Gorgie.
Football Scotland have also reported that both Aberdeen and Hibs are interested in signing Morrison this month, but would he be a decent addition for either club?
What do you think?
