The ownership of Hibs has changed hands to US businessman Ronald Gordon today – and the club’s supporters are absolutely buzzing at the news of fresh investment.
At pre-arranged press conference earlier today at Easter Road, the club revealed that previous owners Sir Tom Farmer and Rod Retrie had passed ownership to Gordon’s company Bydand Sports LLC, with a statement reading that fans should expect a “a further cash investment in the Club”.
Moreover, the official statement on the Hibs website reveals that the Edinburgh club is now debt free six years ahead of schedule, with Gordon becoming chief executive and promising a further seven-figure cash injection into the Easter Road side.
As you can probably imagine, the news has come as something of a surprise to the club’s supporters, but plenty of them reckon this is only the beginning of a bright future:
Could Gordon’s arrival really help to transform the Hibees into Premiership contenders in the coming years?
