It Looks Like Danny Simpson Won’t Be Going on Trial with Celtic After All

It looks like Celtic won’t be signing Danny Simpson after all, with the Premier League winner set to look elsewhere for a new club.

As reported by the Daily Record last week, ex-Newcastle and QPR right-back Simpson looked set to join Neil Lennon’s side on trial this week after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season.

The Hoops have been known to be in the market for defensive reinforcements all summer following the departures of Mikael Lustig, Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic, with the right-back area a particular priority.

Simpson, 32, looked like he could be a contender to fill the void, but the Leicester Mercury are reporting that his trial in Glasgow has been cancelled, as Celtic close in on the signing of Israel international Hatem Abd Elhamed from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
