Prankster Tricks Adidas Into ‘Announcing’ Kieran Tierney’s Move to Arsenal

A clever online prankster had Celtic fans up in arms this afternoon after tricking sportswear giants Adidas into a fake announcement of Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney.

As we’ve told you previously, Hoops hero Tierney has been courted by the English Premier League giants for several weeks now, with Gunners boss Unai Emery keen to add a left-back to his squad ASAP.

And Celtic supporters were met with a terrifying tweet earlier today from the North London club’s new kit suppliers, who appeared to be tweeting Tierney telling him ‘welcome to the squad’:

However, everything isn’t quite as it seems, and Tierney hasn’t just signed for Arsenal.

Adidas had previously tweeted a competition for supporters to ‘win a place in the squad’, and have their name and squad number tweeted out like they’re a real life Arsenal player.

And the lucky winner was clever enough to change their Twitter handle to @k_tierney22, before deleting their account.

The real Kieran Tierney goes by the username @kierantierney1, so it seems fans of the Premiership champions don’t have anything to worry about – for now, at least!
