Rangers winger Daniel Candeias has been omitted from the club’s Europa League squad for this week’s qualification tie against St. Joseph’s – and there’s plenty of Gers fans who reckon it’s the correct decision.
The Portuguese midfielder started and scored in the Ibrox side’s 5-0 thrashing of English League One side Oxford United yesterday afternoon, but the 31-year-old won’t be in action against the side from Gibraltar tomorrow night.
Candeias was perhaps the most eye-catching name missing from the 22-man squad named by Steven Gerrard. Europa League sides can name up to 25 players but the number may be reduced if they do not meet the UEFA criteria of having eight players who are ‘locally trained players’.
The decision to leave Candeias out is definitely a surprising one, but it seems most Rangers supporters are backing their manager:
Jamie Murphy also misses out as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury, while Jon Flanagan is also in the treatment room, but what do you make of the Candeias decision?
Are his days at Rangers numbered?
