Frank Lampard has sent a video message out to the Chelsea fans after taking over as their manager.
The Stamford Bridge legend had been granted permission by Derby County to discuss replacing Maurizio Sarri as the next Blues boss.
And after days of talks, his return to the club has officially been confirmed – with Lampard signing a three-year contract.
Many Chelsea fans were already excited at the prospect of Lampard being back at Chelsea, but they’ll be delighted that it’s made official.
It’s safe to say Lampard is delighted himself:
Now the former England international will get down to the hard task of keeping Chelsea as one of the top teams in English football.
Sarri led the Blues to victory in the Europa League last season as well as a top four spot and the final of the Carabao Cup.
But Chelsea have lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid already this summer and transfer bans mean they won’t be able to sign any replacements until next January.
Lampard’s first competitive game in the Chelsea dugout will come against Manchester United on August 11th.
