Video: Greg Stewart Scores Excellent Solo Goal on First Start for Rangers at Ibrox

Greg Stewart marked his first start for Rangers at Ibrox this afternoon by scoring a pretty slick solo goal against Oxford United.

Steven Gerrard picked a strong side for today’s friendly against Karl Robinson’s English League One side, with new signing Stewart starting alongside fellow new recruits Joe Aribo, Jake Hastie and George Edmundson.

Veteran Portuguese winger Daniel Candeias opened the scoring for the Gers after just 16 minutes but the real highlight of the first-half came from Stewart, who cleverly evaded two defenders before hammering the ball past the helpless Oxford goalkeeper:

Stewart joined the Gers on a two-year deal following his release from Birmingham City earlier this summer, but he probably wouldn’t have been thought of as an automatic starter by Gerrard and his coaching staff.

But how big an impact do you think the 29-year-old could have at Ibrox in the forthcoming campaign?
