Mikael Lustig made his debut for Gent last night – and it was very eventful.
The former Celtic defender hit the headlines today for his comments about former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.
Lustig said, via Sport/Foot Magazine, that if Rodgers was a Celtic fan then he wouldn’t have left them halfway through the season for Leicester.
The Swede has moved on now from the Hoops and will be focusing on success with Gent in Belgium.
Starting his career there off with a 6-3 win in the Europa League isn’t a bad way to do it.
Gent put Romanian side Viitorul to the sword with six brilliant finishes before giving away some soft goals late on to take the shine off their performance.
But it was a good performance from Gent and the ideal start for Lustig:
Gent will travel to Romania next week for their second leg hoping to maintain or build on that lead and reach the third round of qualifying.
