Flying the flag, so to speak for domestic boxing, is Scotland this week as we have very little in the mix elsewhere to get all hot and bothered about. Tonight, Saturday the 17th of August in Glasgow theBritish bantamweight title fight headlines between Ukashir Farooq and Duane Winters. Farooq is a heavy favourite because he is such a heavy hitter and an incredibly good fighter. I expect Farooq to stop it early.
The undercard has light heavyweight Boris Crighton, and welterweight Craig Dickson.
Also, tonight, up in Aberdeen slated to don the gloves are bantamweight Kirsten Fraser, super bantamweight Billy Stuart as well as super lightweight Andrew Smart. They are all without opponents, but welterweight Callum Stuart has one in Kevin McCauley. The smart money shall be on all the home fighters.
Over in Belfast, BIBA have 5 contests to complete the domestic fighting schedule.
In Los Angeles the WBO super bantamweight title is on the line between Emanuel Navarrete and Francisco De Vaca. As always, the more recognisable name, Navarrete, tends to attract the most attention and the undefeated De Vaca will not be much fancied BUT this could be quite a contest.
