Jose Mourinho Praises Arsenal’s Signing of ‘Great Character’ Kieran Tierney

Ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given Arsenal the thumbs-up over their capture of former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland international finally completed his move to the Emirates on Thursday, following weeks of protracted negotiations, with the Gunners agreeing to make Tierney the most expensive Scottish player of all-time by forking out £25 million for the left-back.

Mourinho – still out of a job ever since being sacked by Manchester United last December – is appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday coverage this afternoon, and definitely approved of Tierney’s move to North London.

Speaking before the kick-off of Newcastle United v Arsenal, Mourinho told fellow pundits Gary Neville and Graeme Souness: “Tierney is like a young Nacho Monreal.

“He is the same kind of profile. He’s reliable, looks a good character, looks a great personality.

“He looks a little like someone from a previous generation in some aspects.

“He has a humble way of behaving and I like his profile.”

It remains to be seen when Tierney will make his Arsenal bow, with the left-back still recovering from a double hernia operation, but what do you make of Mourinho’s comments?
