Kilmarnock Teenager Liam Smith Set for Signing Talks with Manchester City

Kilmarnock teenager Liam Smith is set for signing talks with English giants Manchester City, according to reports this afternoon.

Back in May, it was reported by the Sun that Smith – a 16-year-old left-winger – was being chased by both City and Rangers, with both clubs looking to tempt the talented youngster into penning a professional deal.

And now the same publication is claiming City’s vibrant youth academy have stolen a march in the race for Smith’s signature, with talks reportedly planned for next week at the Premier League side’s impressive multi-million pound Etihad Campus.

If Smith does decide to leave Killie, the Ayrshire club will be due a minimal developmental fee for the player, probably in the region of £200,000.

But, generally speaking, what do you think of the idea of Scotland’s brightest talents potentially heading south for the glitz and glamour of England’s biggest clubs?

Should they take the chance, or stay and try to get some first-team game-time in the Scottish Premiership?
