Rangers’ development team produced a brilliant result against Ajax this afternoon.
The Ibrox club made a big decision in the summer when they decided not to participate in the SPFL reserve league – despite winning it last season.
Instead, Rangers have returned to a previous programme where their youth team will take on opposition from some of Europe and world football’s biggest clubs.
And it was a trip to Amsterdam to play Ajax today for them – with Rangers naming a very young squad for the game.
You’d expect Ajax’s youth team to be very strong, but Rangers managed to emerge 4-3 victors. And that should give their young players a lot of belief:
Dapo Mebude has been on the periphery of the Rangers first team in the past, but has been unable to get involved this season yet.
If he continues scoring goals at this level though, it shouldn’t be long before he gets an opportunity under Steven Gerrard.
