Rod Stewart Insists Celtic Have ‘Blown £30M’ After Last Night’s CFR Cluj Defeat

Celtic diehard Rod Stewart reckons the Parkhead club ‘blew £30 million’ by somehow contriving to throw away last night’s Champions League qualifier against CFR Cluj.

The Hoops led twice in last night’s third round second-leg, but eventually went on to lose two late goals and were eventually eliminated 5-4 on aggregate by the Romanian champions.

As we told you last night, Celtic legend Chris Sutton insisted after the full-time whistle that the £25 million transfer windfall the club have just received for Kieran Tierney was now ‘gone’, and crooner Rod seems to be of a similar opinion.

Speaking during an interview on Jim White’s talkSPORT show earlier today, the lifelong Bhoys fan gave his take on the events, saying: “We took it too lightly, we thought we were going to win.

“Playing McGregor at left-back was a mistake I believe.

“I don’t understand why we didn’t have Jullien playing, a £7million player we’ve bought, and Bolingoli, a £3m player.

“Neither were in the team. I don’t understand it.

“Otherwise, it’s just one of those days. We have to move on.

“Celtic are never going to win the Champions League. We know that.

“It’s income for us – £30million we blew last night by not qualifying.”

Celtic now drop into the Europa League qualifiers and will play either AIK of Sweden or Sheriff of Moldova in the playoff round, but what do you think of the Cluj debacle?
