The Hoops led twice in last night’s third round second-leg, but eventually went on to lose two late goals and were eventually eliminated 5-4 on aggregate by the Romanian champions.
As we told you last night, Celtic legend Chris Sutton insisted after the full-time whistle that the £25 million transfer windfall the club have just received for Kieran Tierney was now ‘gone’, and crooner Rod seems to be of a similar opinion.
Speaking during an interview on Jim White’s talkSPORT show earlier today, the lifelong Bhoys fan gave his take on the events, saying: “We took it too lightly, we thought we were going to win.
“Playing McGregor at left-back was a mistake I believe.
“I don’t understand why we didn’t have Jullien playing, a £7million player we’ve bought, and Bolingoli, a £3m player.
“Neither were in the team. I don’t understand it.
“Otherwise, it’s just one of those days. We have to move on.
“Celtic are never going to win the Champions League. We know that.
“It’s income for us – £30million we blew last night by not qualifying.”
