Plenty of Spurs Fans Are Blaming Newcastle Defeat on Mauricio Pochettino’s Team Selection

Spurs suffered their first defeat of the Premier League campaign this afternoon in a shock 0-1 loss at home to Newcastle – and there’s a lot of Tottenham fans who are holding the club’s manager Mauricio Pochettino responsible.

Newcastle’s new £40 million striker Joelinton bagged the only goal of the game midway through the first-half, and despite having 80% possession throughout the 90 minutes, Tottenham failed to really carve their opponents open in-front of a frustrated home support.

Pochettino decided to leave out the experienced fan favourite Jan Vertonghen out of his defence, whilst play-maker Christian Eriksen was also left to kick his heels on the subs bench as speculation about the Dane’s future continues.

Needless to say, the decision to drop two of his most influential players hasn’t gone down well with the Spurs faithful:

Of course, Pochettino has transformed Spurs during his time in North London, but is the Argentine coach now starting to feel the pressure?

What do you think?
