Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says his players will need to improve if they’re to reach the Europa League group stages for the second successive season.

The Gers eased past old foes Progrès Niederkorn 2-0 on aggregate earlier tonight following a 0-0 draw in Luxembourg, in a game with very few goal-mouth chances to speak of.

In fact, the game was so laborious and boring that it should probably be used by MI5 to interrogate suspects as a way of boring them to death, and Gerrard wasn’t trying to claim anything different after the full-time whistle.

Speaking to Rangers TV afterwards, the Gers boss repeatedly referred to the sluggish contest as a grind – and rightfully so:

Rangers will now take on Danish cracks FC Midtjylland in the third qualifying round, with a playoff round lying in wait should they progress through that.

But what do you think of Gerrard’s comments and Rangers’ display?

How drastically will they need to improve to progress in Europe this season?
