Jack Wilshere ended his most recent injury hell tonight by scoring his first-ever goal for West Ham United.
The England international moved to West Ham from Arsenal in the summer of 2018 but, as has been the story for much of his career, injuries have blighted the midfielder’s stint at the London Stadium.
Still just 27, Wilshere is yet to start in the Premier League for the Hammers yet this season but, having finally returned to full fitness, Wilshere was given the nod to start tonight’s EFL Cup tie against Newport – and he didn’t take long to make his mark:
Wilshere managed just eight appearances for West Ham last season in all competitions, and there will have been plenty of supporters who would’ve written him off, but does tonight’s goal prove he’s till got what it takes?
And could he still be a genuine option for Gareth Southgate’s England side going forward?
