John McGinn scored Aston Villa‘s first goal on their return to the Premier League this evening.
The Scottish midfielder signed a new five-year deal at Villa just days ago and has celebrated that by hitting the opening in his side’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
It was a long ball over the top from Tyrone Mings that McGinn ran on to and the former Hibs man showed composure to fire beyond Hugo Lloris.
Just look at how good this is:
With quality like that, it’s no surprise Villa have rewarded McGinn with a new five-year deal just over a year after signing him from Hibs.
Before that move, Celtic had been linked with McGinn for a long time, but were unable to make a deal with Hibs before the midfielder was sold on to Villa.
If he continues that sort of form too, we wouldn’t be surprised to see McGinn’s name linked with bigger clubs in the future.
