Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole raved about Daniel James following his goal against Southampton this afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were the visitors to St Mary’s for today’s early Premier League game, but could only manage to get a point against a hard-working Saints team.

United had taken the lead in the game thanks to James’ goal – the Welsh winger cutting in to brilliantly fire into the top corner.

Unfortunately for the Old Trafford side, Southampton equalised through Jannik Vestegaard to grab a 1-1 draw.

And while there are plenty of negatives for United on another frustrating day, James was a positive with his constant attacking play.

Ferdinand and Cole, covering the game for BT Sport, raved about the winger post-match:

United may have some problems, but the left wing is not one of them thanks to James.

With the 1-1 draw, it means United have just one win from their first four Premier League games.

They won their opening game of the season against Chelsea, but have followed that up with a draw at Wolves and a home defeat to Crystal Palace.
