Chelsea fans are raving about Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour after the teenager’s performance in the Carabao Cup tonight.
Having made his Premier League debut as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United last month, 18-year-old Gilmour was handed an opportunity from the start against Grimsby Town in tonight’s third-round tie, and he certainly didn’t disappoint.
In the end, the class of Frank Lampard’s side well and truly shone through against their League Two opponents, with the Blues recording a crushing 7-1 victory, but that didn’t stop Gilmour from stealing the show in the middle of the park.
The ex-Rangers man’s weight of passes, reading of the game and all-round demeanour seems to have won him plenty of fans down south tonight:
He’s obviously still very young but is Billy Gilmour the superstar player Scottish football has been trying to produce for the last two decades?
