Christopher Jullien Says Celtic Are Aiming to Win This Season’s Europa League

Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has insisted he and his team-mates are aiming to win this season’s Europa League.

Following several solid displays, the French centre-back is starting to show why Neil Lennon forked out around £7 million to sign him from Toulouse in the summer, and it seems the 26-year-old has some pretty high hopes for the coming campaign.

The Hoops start their Europa campaign away from home against exciting Ligue 1 side Rennes on Thursday evening, but simply making it out of the group phase isn’t enough for Jullien, who is hoping to go all the way to next May’s final in Gdansk.

Speaking via the Sun, he was asked about potentially winning the tournament this season, and said: “Yes, I believe we can, absolutely.

“Since I arrived here I have seen that all the players constantly have trophies on their minds.

“They want to win at everything, even in training, and this is important for our team.

“We’ll take it game by game and see what it is.

“But if you were to go into the locker room and ask each of them what their goal was, they’d tell you it is to bring the trophy home.”

Italian giants Lazio and Romanian champions CFR Cluj are also in Celtic’s tricky-looking group, so are Jullien’s comments and ambitions realistic or perhaps slightly fanciful?
