Is Jeremie Frimpong Set to Make Celtic Debut Tonight?

Jeremie Frimpong could be in line to make his Celtic debut tonight.

The 18-year-old full-back signed for the Hoops after leaving Manchester City in the summer, but he’s yet to make his debut for Neil Lennon’s team.

There are signs, though, that Frimpong could get his debut in the Betfred Cup quarter-final between Celtic and Partick Thistle tonight.

The first sign came earlier this week when the former City man was nowhere to be seen in Celtic reserves’ 4-2 in over Greenock Morton:

Given fellow summer signings Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi were included, it suggests Frimpong may have other responsibilities.

You have to consider Celtic’s injury issues in defence too.

Right- back Moritz Bauer is injured for the game, while Christopher Jullien limped out of the weekend’s victory over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park.

Both injuries leave Celtic light in both positions so it may make sense if Hatem Abd Elhamed fills in alongside Kristoffer Ajer at centre back and Frimpong lines up on the right.

And finally, teammate Armstrong Oko-Flex’s latest Instagram Story post shows Frimpong getting a haircut yesterday – and includes a caption about a big game:

Taking all of the above into account, we reckon there’s a good chance Frimpong sees some action tonight.
