Steven Gerrard Shows Support For Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson

Steven Gerrard has shown his support for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson after they missed out on the 2019 FIFA Fifpro World XI.

The Best FIFA Football Awards took place in Milan last night and saw Lionel Messi take the best men’s award.

Despite Liverpool winning the Champions League, star men Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane didn’t make the three-man shortlist for the top award – with Messi being joined by Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk did make the cut for the XI, but Firmino, Salah and Mane were nowhere to be seen.

And, controversially, both Alexander-Arnold and Robertson missed out to Real Madrid duo Sergio Ramos and Marcelo in the XI.

That controversial decision is what led to Gerrard taking to Instagram to show his support for the Liverpool full-backs:

It’s hard to disagree with Gerrard as Liverpool had a remarkable season in comparison to Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp’s men won the Champions League and were one point away from champions Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid finished third in La Liga, only reached the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey and bowed out of the Champions League in the last 16.
