Video: Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer Gives Away Ridiculous Penalty Against Rennes

Celtic got their Europa League group stage campaign up-and-running this evening in France – but it wasn’t long before their troubles away from home in European competition resurfaced.

The Hoops travelled to take on Stade Rennes in their first fixture, with the exciting Ligue 1 outfit just two points off the top of the French top-flight and hot on the heels of star-studded PSG.

Neil Lennon’s side actually started the game very brightly, with Odsonne Eduard and Mohamed Elyounoussi both going close to giving Celtic the lead.

But just as it looked like the Premiership champions had a foot-hold in the tie, Kristoffer Ajer inexplicably lunged in on M’Baye Niang, and left the referee with no choice but to point to the penalty spot:

The former AC Milan striker Niang picked himself up and coolly slotted the spot-kick home – but what on Earth was Ajer thinking about there?!
