Manchester United legend Roy Keane has taken a cheeky swipe at old foe Patrick Vieira tonight – by claiming the French World Cup winner would’ve been forced to be a squad player at the Red Devils.

Keane and Vieira enjoyed a string of gargantuan tussles in the middle of the park for their respective clubs during the 1990s and the early 2000s, with both writing their names into English football folklore in their own rights.

Most fans would probably rated both players as world class during their heydays, but Keane isn’t convinced Vieira would’ve been able to nail down a regular spot if he’d ended up plying his trade at Old Trafford.

The Irishman was speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football tonight, and insisted he isn’t convinced Vieira would’ve been able to break up Beckham, Keane, Scholes and Giggs:

What do you think of Keane’s comments?

Is he correct, and is he perhaps being a touch tongue-in-cheek?
