Craig Levein Jokes He’ll Bid for Alfredo Morelos Ahead of Rangers Showdown

Hearts boss Craig Levein has joked he’ll bid for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos – after reports of the Ibrox club moving for his star player Aaron Hickey.

The Jambos manager is preparing for a crucial showdown with the Gers at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the international break, and Hickey has been at the centre of news stories claiming he’s being eyed-up as a potential signing by new Rangers Sporting Director Ross Wilson.

The Daily Record claim Hickey is valued at around £2 million by the Ibrox money men, whilst the 17-year-old has already been linked with a move to Manchester City.

However, Levein is claiming he isn’t entirely convinced by the suggestions – particularly because the two teams meet this weekend.

Speaking via the Edinburgh Evening News, Levein said: “Who do we play at the weekend?

“We’re going to put an offer in for Morelos tomorrow. I’m taking that one with a lump of salt.”

And on a new long-term deal for Hickey – whose current contract expires in 2021 – Levein added: “I’m still working on it.

“I want to just try and get it done with his dad and then I’ll talk about it.”

Hearts are ninth in the Premiership table after a bitterly disappointing start to the season – but who do you think will triumph on Sunday?
